After the beautiful Indian Summer where we all basked in temperatures of 28 degrees, it is time to pack away the linens and embrace the new season and the new Autumn collection.
With life still in semi lockdown, comfort dressing is still a big feature. Cardigans are in, despite a London Law firm banning them from the office, and the coatigan is definitely back. Not to be outdone, someone has invented the ‘shacket’ – you’ve guessed it a hybrid that embraces the softness of the shirt with the formality of the jacket, which if I was honest, looks to me rather like those lumberjack shirts of the eighties and nineties!
Colours as you would expect at this time of the year are autumnal – a bold combination of reds, golds, burgundies and bronzes. I have amazing tunics and dresses containing these beautiful colours in a wide range of styles and prints. My particular favourite is a silky, shirt dress which can be worn as a standalone piece or layered over a plain shift dress. This collection is full of real wow factor, statement pieces that can be dressed up or down as the mood takes, depending on the social occasion allowed by our Covid obsessed government. No weddings, no parties and increasingly likely no Christmas!
It is no wonder then the emphasis this season is definitely casual. The popular oversized sweatshirts and tunics are back in a wide range of shapes and colours. The star emblem is back, with others to chose from including hearts and a cute love motif. Knitwear is soft and cosy. I especially like the navy blue jumper with its little pointed collar and the round neck batwing sleeved piece with its matching scarf, which comes in grey as well as navy.
My “magic” trousers are already proving to be the season’s bestseller – these are jogger style but offer so much more than the traditional jogger. The animal print is cool and funky and comes in khaki and dusky pink. If this is not your style I also have them in plain colours including grey, black and navy. All are made in stretch cotton with an elasticated waist for added comfort. I also stock these in size 10s and 12s for the smaller figure.
My own brand bengaline trousers will be made up in black, charcoal and navy as usual. Now that it is getting cooler, why not swap your capris with a full length style or ankle grazer. Remember these are made to measure, so the length and width can be tailored to your exact requirements. The colour of the season this time is a beautiful dark claret, which will look wonderful with the autumn colour pallet that predominates this season.
Accessories are bold – think chunky necklaces, star patterned tote bags and brightly coloured scarves in luxurious silks. All are in stock or are coming soon.
As for Christmas, I will be writing a special blog in a couple of weeks full of wonderful ideas for gifts and welcoming you to my virtual Christmas shopping world.
Look forward to seeing you in the shop soon.
