A big welcome to my holiday special!
As usual, COVID19 is playing havoc with normal life. A holiday abroad is like playing Russian roulette as all those who are in Spain at the moment (or have booked to go) are finding out. And with more countries being added to the must quarantine list every day, it is difficult to know what to do for the best.
One thing you must do is to wear the dreaded mask! They are essential in the airport and on the plane, and with every country having different rules it pays to pack plenty. And why not make them into a fashion statement to coordinate with your holiday outfits? I make them in two designs – plain or pleated, all made with cotton on the inside and I have a variety of prints – plain to match your favourite bengaline Capri’s or patterned – the blue star print is especially popular. For £5 a piece, what more could you want?
Talking of bengaline – hot violet is the on trend colour as my amazing model the lovely Lynne from Nottingham demonstrates.
The back garden staycation is a popular destination this year and has some distinct advantages – no packing, no airports, no traffic and no masks. If you have been working from home this year, it will be good to abandon your normal workwear and go full holiday mode. Loose flowing silhouettes are always popular – try my silk blouses in a variety of shapes to suit every figure or a jersey cotton maxi which works as a stand alone item or matched with a cropped linen top. Also, a liberal use of colour and bold prints are sure to get you in the holiday mood.
If you are going further afield like Devon or Cornwall then layers are the best way to dress for the great British weather, especially at the beach. Linen trousers and tunics work well – I have every design and colour that you could wish for. Favourites this year are bright orange or teal with side buttoning to give that shirt dress look or crisp white with a cowl neckline and back buttoning – a timeless classic.
If you are not scared to show off your legs then my ‘boyfriend’ shirts in white or navy look great over swimwear or denim shorts – more classy than the oversized tee but just as comfortable. Or if you prefer to be more casual then my popular star sweatshirt looks amazing as a throw over. If like me, you prefer to keep your legs a private affair then a long kaftan or sarong is a must. My large, cotton scarves make a wonderful sarong and I have a great range of colours and patterns.
Also do not forget that a day at the beach in this country can be a chilly experience, so do pack loose fitting knitwear- my five way poncho is brilliant for holidays easy to pack and versatile to wear. Cooler days make coastal walks an appealing option and my new ‘vegan’ rucksacks are both a good looking and practical accessory. They look and feel like leather and come in a range of colours including black, navy, mustard, dove grey and red.
New in are my amazing harem trousers in navy, dark grey and black in two different shapes – plain or patterned, perfect for that yoga pose or just for relaxation.
This year I will be going on my usual ten day camping holiday in Cornwall with the family on 4 August. The wonderful Sue will be covering for me so the shop will be open for business as usual. Opening times will be Thursday, Friday 11am- 4pm and Saturday from 10 – 5pm. Appointments are available Tuesday and Wednesday. I will be back in the shop on Saturday 15 August for some holiday Prosecco. If you need to contact me, just call me on 07983 804726.
